In addition, Level 1-3 members are required to submit documentation to the NAHA office in order to qualify for membership.

Level 1: NAHA Certified Level 1 Aromatherapist

This category of membership is open to professionals such as massage therapists seeking to introduce aromatherapy into their practices, as well as individuals involved in promoting the field of aromatherapy and aromatherapy education.

Level 1 Membership Requirements:
- Have attended and graduated from a NAHA Approved Level 1 aromatherapy training program, minimum 50 hours* or the equivalent.
- Submit proof of completion of 5 NAHA approved continuing education hours (CEs) per year, or 10 CEs every 2 years.
- Professional business policy
- Website, social media, and written materials must not contain promotion of unsafe and/or contraindicated use of essential oils and aromatherapy techniques.
*The Level 1 hour requirement applies to existing health professionals such as: Massage Therapists, Estheticians, Herbalists, Nurses, Physicians, etc. Students who are not existing health professionals have an additional requirement to provide proof of completion of Anatomy & Physiology 1 from an accredited institution, or the equivalent class taken from a NAHA approved school. Anatomy & Physiology Level 1 is a 3-4 credit undergraduate class which typically covers: Tissue & The Integumentary System; Skeleton, Joints & The Skeletal System; Muscle, Muscle Tissue & The Muscular System; Nervous Tissue & The Central Nervous System, The Peripheral Nervous System, The Autonomic Nervous System; The Endocrine System; Cellular Structure & Types, Basic Chemistry. Many universities and colleges offer this course in classroom and on line.
1 college credit = 15-16 classroom hours, or self-paced online which can often be completed more quickly.
Proof of the requirements listed above must be included with your application at the time of submission in order to be approved as a Level 1 member. You can upload, email or mail your documents to the NAHA office with proof of your aromatherapy training. Memberships are charged when you apply. Your membership will only become valid after the requirements listed above are received and approved. If you are not approved, then the membership charge will be refunded.
Level 2: NAHA Certified Professional Aromatherapist®
This category of membership is open to individuals who are actively practicing and/or
teaching professional
aromatherapy. Professional members may vote and hold office in the Association.

Level 2 Membership Requirements
Have attended and graduated from a NAHA approved Level 2 aromatherapy training program, minimum 200 hours**, or the equivalent.
Graduates must submit proof of completion of 10 NAHA approved continuing education hours (CEs) per year or 20 CEs every 2 years in order to remain a Level 2 member in good standing.

**150 hours in addition to the required Level 1 hours, for a total minimum of 200. The Level 2 hour requirement applies to existing health professionals such as: Massage Therapists, Herbalists, Nurses, Physicians, etc. Students who are not existing health professionals have an additional requirement to provide proof of completion of Anatomy & Physiology 2 from an accredited institution, or the equivalent class taken from a NAHA approved school. Anatomy & Physiology Level 2 is a 3-4 credit undergraduate class which typically covers: The Reproductive System; The Cardiovascular System; The Lymphatic System & The Immune System; The Urinary System; The Digestive System. Many universities and colleges offer this course in classroom and on line.

Level 3: NAHA Certified Clinical Aromatherapist
This category of
membership is open to individuals who are actively practicing and/or teaching clinical aromatherapy.
Clinical members may vote and hold office in the Association.

Level 3 Membership Requirements
Have attended and graduated from a NAHA approved Level 3 Aromatherapy Training Program, minimum 300 hours**, or the equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of direct clinical Aromatherapy experience. Clinical experience can be obtained by working in a Holistic Healing Center, Integrative Medicine Facility or Traditional Medical Center that utilizes aromatherapy as a healing modality. Hospital work is not required, but may be counted toward clinical experience if aromatherapy is used as a healing modality.
Graduates must submit proof of completion of 15 NAHA approved continuing education hours (CEs) per year or 30 CEs every 2 years in order to remain a Level 3 member in good standing.

***100 hours in addition to the required Level 1 & Level 2 hours, for a total minimum of 300. The Level 3 hour requirement applies to existing clinicians (Physicians, Nurses, Acupuncturists, Medical Herbalists, etc). Students who are not existing clinicians have an additional requirement to provide proof of completion of Advanced Pathophysiology from an accredited institution, or the equivalent class taken from a NAHA approved school. Advanced Pathophysiology is a 4 credit graduate level class which typically advances knowledge of anatomy and physiology while expaining the mechanisms of diseases and pathophysiological conditions affecting the the integumentary system, the circulatory system, the reproductive system, the musculoskeletal system, the lymphatic/immune system, the endocrine system, the nervous system, the urinary system, and the digestive system. Many universities and colleges offer this course in classroom and on line.

Business Member
This category of membership is open to individuals who own or manage a business that offers aromatherapy products
or
services. Business members may vote and hold office in the Association.

Grand Donor membership is open to anyone who wishes to significantly contribute to NAHA´s work and

Grand Donor Member Requirements:

IMPORTANT NOTES:
The membership requirements were updated by the NAHA board April 25, 2017 and take effect January 1, 2018. Existing NAHA members are grandfathered to their current membership level. All members shall have until December 31, 2020 to upload proof that their CEUs have been completed. This proof should be uploaded through your member page.
In order to use NAHA logos and trademarks, you must be a NAHA member in good standing at the required level for each logo or seal. You must also submit a signed NAHA Logo Permission Form (sign into your member page to download your seal and the logo permission form). If your membership lapses, or if you are suspended for any reason, you must cease use of any and all NAHA logos and trademarks.
Level 2 members and above have the option to upgrade to a premium listing on the ‘Find An Aromatherapist’ Database (log into your member page to create or upgrade your listing). A nominal annual fee applies to premium listing upgrades.
