CO2 extracts are becoming increasingly popular in modern aromatherapy. Madeleine Kerkhof, a former nurse and now clinical aromatherapy expert and educator is one of very few pioneering experts in CO2’s. Her approach is down to earth and practical, yet with a keen eye for addressing body, mind and soul using the best of nature’s gifts to us. In this intensive course she will discuss the technique of CO2 extraction and how it differs from conventional extraction methods. CO2 extracts are often much richer in their variety of molecules than their equivalents that are conventionally extracted. This applies to extracts that we would use as essential oils – such as ginger, German chamomile, lavender and lemon balm, but also to extracts that we can use as base oils – such as borage, evening primrose and sea buckthorn. There are also myths surrounding CO2 extracts. Some people say that they are always stronger, and need to be dosed lower than essential oils, which is sometimes true but not always. Supercritical extracts have a unique fragrance profile, almost always more intense and reminding us of the original plant. This can be of great advantage when we address emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones. Madeleine will share her views, discuss some of the most promising CO2 extracts for aromatherapy and offer dosage advice, tips and tricks for successful blending for a variety of clinical applications, from skin care to pain, and from respiratory issues to anxiety and stress, both in general clinical aromatherapy and in care for the very frail. Adding on to your existing skills and knowledge on essential oils and perhaps (basics on) CO2 extracts, Madeleine will offer you tools, tips and cases to inspire you to use these beautiful plant extracts. This webinar is accompanied by a course pack including reader and mini samples for the best possible fragrant experience.
